EPIPHONE | FOR EVERY STAGE

We provided the visuals to the excellent creative direction developed by Do Not Disturb and Courageous. This Epiphone spot was created to connect with guitar players both young and old, at any stage in their musical career. Meant to evoke a sense of realism and authenticity, this piece brings the joy of musicianship from an out-of-reach place straight to your garage or home studio.

mini series: STudio Visit

“Studio Visit” is an on-going personal project of our’s that aims to dive into the work of artists that we know and respects. This series was, in part, driven by curiosity, and in part born out of the desire for a fresh challenge.

The raw feel, accentuated by the lack of music, is a nod to stripped-down, gimmick-free filmmaking. We wanted to get to the root of our craft, and focus on the foundations of creating a piece: technically-sound images, compelling compositions, and thought-provoking storytelling without the use of crutches we as filmmakers get comfortable leaning on: transitions, music, fancy gimbals and toys.

Each piece is shot handheld and uses in-camera audio, while the narrative is being driven only by the subjects spoken words.

Studio Visit Ep. 1

Patrick Shields is a San Diego-based sculpture artist and professor of architecture. We visited his Barrio Logan studio and spoke with him about the arts in general, his work and how we interact with it when it's finished.

Studio Visit Ep. 2

We visit our good friend and artist, Andrew Alcasid, at his Bankers Hill residency, Helmuth Projects. We talk about his influences and what draws him to do the type of work he does.

Studio Visit Ep. 3

Chloe Becky is a good friend and neighbor of ours, and her work has a dark but whimsical feel. This is especially true of the marionette-like dolls she fastens from armature wire and other materials.

Studio Visit Ep. 4

In this Studio Visit we spend some time with Spenser Little at his Little Italy workshop to talk about what gives art value, and using free drugs to chase the crafts dragon.

Studio Visit Ep. 5

We got to spend some time with the "Barrio Monstro" himself this summer. His work is bold, brutal, and unapologetic, a lot like his personality.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise | Step into the future

We had the pleasure of directing/DPing this super tech-y :60 spot for the fine folks at Creative Drive.

A combination of on-location footage and stock assets, it’s all combined with a super sweet animation/compositing treatment providing some real nice depth.

Medtronic | Sea Of patients

Two weeks of pre-production, one shoot day, two locations, one week of post-production and three deliverables. This one was nuts to pull off! Audacity came in with some killer creative for this client, and we pulled it off with the help of Briefcase Studios pulling some nasty pre-production hours.

Directed by: Shane Aguon, Tres Creative

Black Clover’s 2020 Lookbook

Filming (legally) on the Santa Monica pier was a treasure and presented some unique challenges. For one, the sheer volume of people meant finding the right spot at the right moment was crucial. Luckily we had some great talent with us that day that made getting the shot in a tight window a breeze.

We provided the direction, cinematography and post services for this project.

Mohamed Bzeek | GoFundMe

We were asked to bring our handheld documentary style to this piece produced by GoFundMe. You’ve probably heard his story before, but its worth a re-watch for the feels.

Director & Editor: Sammy Deguido

Cinematography: Sean Horton

Scripps Research | Science Changes Everything

This three part short-form docuseries (and the anthem) was incredibly inspiring to work on. We had the opportunity to get an inside look at some of the leading research being done by top researchers in each field.

Green Flash Brewing Company

Green Flash’s “Behind the Craft” is a 4 part video series that celebrates the local craftsmen in our community and aims to capture a glimpse into what makes San Diego such a special place to live and work.

We took this project from start to finish by providing pre-production support, direction, cinematography, and post.

Jonathan de Jesus is lifelong drummer turned scratch battle champion. When he became serious about DJing I had an itch there was a concept there.

The series concept fits well with a brand like Splice, in which Johnny would compose the drum tracks for each loop, then scratch over top.

Similarly it would work for a brand like Serato, also showcasing their DJing software capabilities.

Done in collaboration with Briefcase Studios and Andrus Lighting and Grip.

We provided the concept development, direction, cinematography, post for this spec piece.
